SCARS
Scars are the umbilical cord to our souls
Everyone carries their own scars of life. These scars make us who we are, they make us unique, special, different and beautiful. We should listen a little more to each other's scars instead of judging. Scars are the milestones in our lives, they tell our story with a beginning and an end. How we wear our scars or deal with other people's scars tells us who we are. Some people wear their scars with pride, for others it is a daily reminder of their painful past. The outer scars are easy to recognize but our inner scars are the real demons. You can't see them, only feel them. They can make a soul beautiful and strong, or break it into a pitch black night. The inner scars are silent and hidden and are often carried in the greatest secrecy. They are the umbilical cord to our soul. So learn to listen to each other's scars, they tell the real story behind a face.
The "Scars collection" was inspired by the global lockdown during the Covid19 pandemic in 2020.
It exposes the painful scars caused by this pandemic. The yearning for freedom, the loneliness, the fear, the uncertainty and pain it caused.
The rusted steel with their sharp edges symbolizes the hardness of life and also the outer appearance, the outer layer and defense mechanism of our inner scars that we carry. The glass of the square frame represents transparency, once you learn to listen to someone's scars, you really get to know their soul. In turn, the words burned on the skin symbolize the whispers of our inner scars, the pain, the secrecy, the loneliness and the uncertainty.
At the end, everyone is a child when it comes to scars.
